I don’t know how many times I’ve attempted to activate Windows Server 2008 and have it fail on me. After banging my head against the wall I remember to check the time settings. If your time is way off, especially in KMS scenarios, activation will fail. So for future troubleshooting, make sure the OS time is set correctly prior to attempting activation.
